The Moor of Rannoch Restaurant & Rooms is personally run by Scott & Steph who have been owners of the business since 2013. Originally Scott & Steph planned to run the business as a two person operation, however the success of the Moor of Rannoch has led to increased guest numbers visiting for both our accommodation and restaurant. We now require a team of up to 8 people in order to deliver the best possible experience to our guests in the wilderness of Rannoch Moor.

Our focus on providing a quality guest experience means that we are constantly on the look out for new members to join the team. Previous hospitality experience within a quality establishment is required due to the small nature of the team, but importantly an awareness of our remote location and desire to experience the surrounding wilderness is necessary for all applicants.

All applicants must have:

  • previous hospitality experience
  • the ability to interact with our guests to provide a memorable experience
  • passion for fresh produce and quality drinks
  • a love of nature and the outdoor environment
  • be comfortable around dogs (we are a very dog friendly establishment)

The Moor of Rannoch is a seasonal business with staff positions available from February to mid-November. Accommodation is available in our shared staff cottage. Current recruitment opportunities are listed below but we welcome suitable applications at any time.

We are looking for an experienced Waiter/Waitress to join our Front of House team. Our intimate dining room accommodates just 20 covers and our guests want to know everything about their food, drink and surroundings. Therefore, you must have excellent food knowledge and great customer service skills, ideally gained within a simillar Rosette Award restaurant.

With an expanding wine list and over 150 Scottish Malts & Gins we also require you to have a solid knowledge of drinks and wine service. Training will be offered and for the right candidate we will consider sponsoring formal sommelier/wine qualifications.

HousekeeperJoin our small team and ensure the Moor of Rannoch is at its best for our guests.
Full Time: 30 hours + extra kitchen hours available, Hourly Pay, Share of Tips, Accommodation Provided
Part Time: 20 hours (Must include Weekend availability), Hourly Pay, Share of Tips

We are looking for a Housekeeper to assist us in preparing our rooms and restaurant for the arrival of each of our guests. It is not just cleaning that is required we also need you to provide a welcoming environment for all our guests and help us to create a memorable experience. Previous Houskeeping experience would be highly advantageous.

The Moor of Rannoch only has 5 rooms but we have a very high occupancy rate, we also have our own laundry on site. Housekeeping is usually 5-6 hours per day but for a full time position we can also offer additional hours within our Kitchen Team working as a Kitchen Porter.

We can offer the position as either Full Time which includes accommodation OR as a Part Time position (without accommodation) which will be for 4 days per week but must include Weekends

Kitchen Porter(s)Who is the most important person in the kitchen? – Ask any Chef and they will tell you it is the KP!Part Time: Up to 25 hours, Hourly Pay, Share of Tips

The role of a Kitchen Porter is much more than just washing pots and pans (BUT that is part of it!) You need to be organised and pro-active, re-stocking plates for the chef before they run out, knowing which store room ingredients are in when they are required and making sure that utensils and knives are returned to the correct places. There is also an element of food prep and mise en place that needs completed before each service.

There is also the washing up to be done, thankfully we have a commercial dishwasher with a 4 minute cycle! Don’t however underestimate the volume of dishes that we can produce even catering for just 20 guests.

This is a physical job in a potentially dangerous environment, full training will be provided. The position would suit someone looking to gain experience of working in a commercial kitchen.

Kitchen GardenerOur Kitchen uses fresh produce each day and we try and grow all of our own herbs and salad leavesPart Time: Hours to suit (around 10 hours per week), Hourly Pay, Share of Tips

Over the last two summers we have built a large Kitchen Garden including our 40 foot polytunnel. We now require a keen green fingered Kitchen Gardener to assist us in maintaining a steady supply of fresh produce for use in our kitchen. A knowledge of gardening including propagating from seeds, as well as a good understanding of edible leaves and plants is required as we look to expand the volume of produce we can  grow.

Hours can be flexable to incorporate weather and growing seasons but we anticipate around 10 hours per week split over 2/3 days.
